Step 1: Create a new Dashboard
To begin, navigate to the Dashboards menu in the platform.
Click Dashboards in the lefthand main navigation
Select New Dashboard
Enter a Dashboard name
Choose whether to share it with your workspace or keep it private
Click Create
Your new Dashboard will now be available for adding Widgets.
Step 2: Open the Global Student Flows dataset
Next, access the Global Student Flows dataset. You can do this:
From the Home screen tile, or
Via the left-hand navigation menu
When you open Global Student Flows, the first view you’ll see is the Overview report.
Step 3: Add a Widget from the Overview report
Widgets can be added directly from reports throughout the platform.
Hover over a Widget in the Overview report
Select the options arrow in the corner of the Widget
Choose Add to Dashboard
Select the Dashboard you created
Click Add to Dashboard
The Widget will now be saved to your Dashboard.
Step 4: Add filtered Widgets from other GSF Reports
You can also add widgets from other Global Student Flows reports, such as Source Location.
For example, you may want to:
Filter by source region (eg East Asia and Pacific)
Filter by destination country (eg Australia)
Adjust the time period (default shows recent years plus projected growth to 2030)
Once your filters are applied:
Hover over the Widget
Select Add to Dashboard
Choose your Dashboard
Click Add to Dashboard
Each Widget will retain its filters when added.
Step 5: View and Manage your Dashboard
Return to your Dashboard to view the added Widgets.
From here, you can:
Reorder Widgets by dragging them
Rename Widgets
View underlying data
Clone widgets for reuse or comparison
This allows you to tailor the layout to suit your reporting needs.
Step 6: Combine Global Student Flows with other Datasets
Dashboards are not limited to a single dataset. You can combine Global Student Flows Widgets with insights from other areas of the platform.
For example, you can:
Add Widgets from Market Insights or Expert datasets
Include organisational lists or sector insights
Combine student mobility data with EdTech, AI, or workforce infrastructure insights
This makes Dashboards ideal for cross-dataset analysis and regular reference.
Step 7: Use Dashboards for Ongoing Insights
Once built, Dashboards can be:
Used as a daily reference point
Shared with colleagues
Published to your Workspace (if required)
