Widgets are modular, interactive elements that display specific data insights - they're the building blocks of HolonIQ dashboards and reports.
Widgets can take many forms, such as charts, tables, maps, or key metrics. Each one is powered by filters, data sources, and topics, allowing you to monitor, explore, and compare information in a visual and user-friendly way.
Widget Tips & Best Practices
Widgets are the heart of dashboard customization. Below are a few key ways to build and tailor widgets to fit your specific needs:
1. Use Pre-Built Charts and Visualizations
As you navigate the platform, look out for pre-built charts and visualizations you’d like to collect or arrange into a custom dashboard.
To add one:
Click the three dots (…) on any widget across the platform
Choose Add to Dashboard
Select the relevant dashboard and place it where needed
This is a quick way to build a dashboard from curated visual insights.
2. Use the Filtered Developments Dataset
You can apply filters in the Developments dataset to start creating basic widgets.
Refer to the 'What is a Development?' page. To see the full list of our Development Types and Categories with definitions of each.
3. Track Specific Organizations (competitors, peers, targets) with Lists
Whether it be a list of organizations built by yourself or HolonIQ - a widget, only as it relates to the organizations on a List, can be created.
Editing Your Widgets
Once a widget is created you have the option to clone, remove, or edit the widget.
With the Edit function, you will be able to change the filters used to populate the widget.
