How to Navigate Labour Market Intelligence Reports

What types of information you can find in the Labour Market Intelligence Dataset

This guide will help you navigate and make the most of the Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) dataset reports. You’ll learn how to find and use the available reports, understand filters, and explore occupational and skills taxonomies.


1. Accessing Labour Market Intelligence

You can access Labour Market Intelligence datasets in two ways:

  1. From the Home screen -
    Scroll down to the Labour Market Intelligence products section, and select the tile labeled “Labour Market Intelligence”.

  2. From the left-hand main navigation menu -
    Scroll down and select “Labour Market Intelligence”.

Both options will take you to the Labour Market Intelligence dataset, which can also be selected from the dataset dropdown at the top of the page.

When you access the Labour Market Intelligence dataset, by default it will open:

  1. Labour Data and Reports

  2. Your Subscribed Region or Territory

  3. The Highlights Report


2. Overview of Available Reports

The LMI reports are organised into five main groups, accessible through the reports bar.

These reports focus on:

  • Occupations

  • Job Postings

  • Skills


3. Highlights Report:

Provides a summary and overview of the main data categories, including:

  • Workforce breakdown by major and occupation

  • Median compensation

  • Overview of job postings

  • Skills areas


Using Filters and Controls

Each report offers additional filters and controls, most often found at the top right of the report page. Filters available in the Highlights report include:

  • Educational Requirements for jobs

  • AI Automation Risk

  • AI Augmentation Rating

These filters help you customise the data view according to your requirements.


4. Occupations Reports

There are five detailed reports focused on occupations, each providing multiple ways to visualise and drill into information:

4.1 What You’ll Find

  • Number of employees for 2025 vs. 2030

  • Growth rates over time (including compound annual growth rate - CAGR)

  • Median wages

  • Educational entry requirements

4.2 Occupation Taxonomy Structure

The occupations are categorised into four levels:

5. Job Postings Report

This report allows you to:

  • Search job postings using a search bar

  • Filter postings by date range and territory

  • View details of each posting in a side panel

How To Use:

  1. Enter your query or filter criteria.

  2. Click on a specific job posting.

  3. Review the details displayed on the right panel.


6. Skills Report

The Skills Report focuses on the competencies sought across the job market.

6.1 Skills Taxonomy Structure

The skills are broken down into four levels:

6.2 Interactivity

  • Click on any Skill to see a short description and which Occupations require that skill.

  • Click on an Occupation for a short description and a full list of relevant skills.
