How do I Compare the Academic Reputation of my Institution with Others?

1. Open the "Academic Reputation" Dataset

Navigate to the Academic Reputation Dataset from the left-hand menu and select:


2. View the Index Report

The Dataset is defaulted to open in the Index Report which will display in the main content area on your page:

Note that this default index report is specific to all university in this Academic Reputation Indicator. It is also specific to any pre-selected Benchmark Peer List and Benchmark Period you had been using.


3. Refining your Index Report: Toggles & Controls

You can further modify your Index Report by using the following toggles & controls:

  1. Benchmark Peers - changing between your Master Peer List, by Region, by Country, or by a QS List of Peers

  2. Benchmark Period - changing between 1, 3, 5, 10 years or Max

  3. Values - changing between Rank, Percentile and Score


4. Using the Highlights Report for Academic Reputation

In addition to the Index Report, you can also view Academic Reputation through the lens of a focused-institution - be that your own university, or one from your Master Peer List.

Click on the "Highlights" button on the Reports horizontal bar.


5. Changing Focus Institution

To compare your institution with another university, you can switch the Focus Institution toggle. This allows you to view all datasets from the perspective of the peer institution you want to compare yourself with.


6. Changing Benchmark Peers for Comparison

To compare your institution with other groups of Peers, you can switch the Benchmark Peers drop-down. This includes not only your Master Peer List, but also any Custom List you've created. In addition, you can also compare yourself against pre-built lists QS has compiled such as: Ivy League, Group of Eight, AAU, etc.

Finally, you are also able to compare yourself per geographic region, or universities in a specific country.
