Learn how to switch between Peers in your Master Peer List and how to use Overview mode to see the entire dataset as a reference. This guide also explains what changes when you switch views.
Key terms
Benchmark peer list: The set of peers used to contextualize analysis. The default is typically your Master Peer List.
Focus institution: The specific institution whose perspective you’re viewing.
Overview mode: A dataset-wide view where all peers are visible as a reference, without a single focus institution.
Switch between peers in your Master Peer List
Open the Focus Institution drop-down on the top left of the page (next to the Dataset selection dropdown).
Choose an institution to set it as the focus.
Review all reports from that institution’s perspective.
To view another Peer, select a different institution from the same dropdown to focus on another Peer.
Overview mode
The Reports usually display the datasets in the context of the selected Benchmark Peer List. As an exception, some of the Reports (such as the Index Report) allow to view the entire dataset.
Locate the Focus Institution drop-down in the top-left area next to the Dataset selector.
Select Overview.
Use the Clear selection option (available in the Benchmark Peers dropdown on the top right of the screen when you are in Overview mode) to remove the currently selected list of peers and see the entire dataset in the Index report.
What changes in Overview mode
All Peers are visible in reports like the Index report. Peers that were previously grayed out become visible.
Some Reports require a Focus Institution and won’t populate in Overview. For example, the Highlights Report will have empty dashboards in Overview mode.
Quick Comparison Table
Feature | Focus Institution View | Overview |
Peer Selection | Individual | All peers |
Highlights Report | Available | Empty dashboards |
Clear Selection | Not available | Available |
Index Report | Peers may be grayed out | None of the peers grayed out |
Report Context | Selected Benchmark Peer list | Full dataset reference |
Tips and Troubleshooting
If you don’t see all Peers in the Index Report, switch to Overview to view the complete dataset.
If one of your charts or Reports is empty, you may be in Overview; switch back to a Focus Institution.
